Dr Chang Keng Wee

Dr Chang Keng Wee is the Past Master of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (2011-2013). He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1979 and subsequently obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1983. He was awarded Fellowships of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia in 1997, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2012, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2013, and Academy of Medicine of Singapore in 2013. He received Honorary Fellowships from the College of Surgeons of South Africa in 2012 and Royal College of Physicians in Ireland in 2014
Dr Chang is a Consultant General Surgeon, with special interest in Upper GI and HPB surgery, at the Gleneagles Hospital in Kuala Lumpur
He is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He was Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Malaya Medical Centre until 1996 and was Adjunct Professor of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur from 2011-2012. He was Honorary Consultant at the University of Malaya Medical Centre form 1996 to 2010. He is Examiner for the Malaysian Conjoint Masters of Surgery and MRCS Examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was examiner to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland from 1999 to 2001.
He was President of the College of Surgeons of Malaysia from 1999 to 2000, President of the Asian Surgical Association from 2003 to 2005 and President of the Private Medical Practitioners’ Association of Selangor & Kuala Lumpur from 2010 to 2011.
He sat in numerous National Committees namely, National Credentialing Committee of the National Specialist Register, Malaysian National Medical Testing Accreditation Committee, National Patient Safety Council and Malaysian National Drug Policy Committee, from 2011-2013. He is a member of the Preliminary Investigation Committee and Disciplinary Board of the Malaysian Medical Council.
